E-Safety

The internet is a wonderful tool and has truly revolutionised the way we both teach and learn. Unfortunately, there we are real risks that we are exposed to when we go online. These range from technical threats, such as viruses and malware, to personal threats, such as identity theft and online predators.

Thankfully, there are a few things you can do to protect yourself from these threats:

Install and maintain anti-malware software

-Keep the software up to date

-Do regular scans

-Scan new items BEFORE using them

Be aware of what information you are putting online

-How much info is publicly available on social media sites?

-Think about what else you use the information for - Is it a good idea to post your mothers maiden name in your facebook profile if it is also your banking password?

Think about who you are talking to

-Is the person who they say they are

-NEVER arrange to meet anyone you've met online without taking a friend/adult along

-Don't send personal details or photo's over the internet to someone you have never met

If you are concerned about online safety of either yourself or someone you know, there are some places you can go to get help, report something/someone and get some more information. The logos below link to sites that can help.
