Stanley St Peter’s Modern Foreign Language Vision

At Stanley St Peter’s our main aim is to ‘Unlock Potential and Celebrate Success’ by providing the opportunity through our inclusive and diverse curriculum.  We believe that through the MFL curriculum we can ensure that children are provided with an understanding and developing knowledge of other cultures.  We recognise that we need to deliver languages with confidence so that children are enthusiastic and have lots of curiosity to learn.  It will also give all children the chance to thrive by building a foundation for further education and life skills.

What does MFL look like in our school?

Teachers will use their subject knowledge to support children’s learning by:

  • Having a secure subject knowledge to teach where lessons have a clear outcome.
  • Allowing children to have the opportunity to communicate in different ways and have the confidence to apply their subject knowledge in other areas.
  • Ensuring all children progress by actively assessing throughout every lesson.
  • Allowing children to work in a variety of ways including individually, in pairs, in small groups or whole class sessions.
  • Providing children with high quality resources.
  • Making sure the lessons are active, multi-sensory and engaging at an appropriate pace for the children.
  • Having a consistent approach throughout school.

EXCITING UPDATE!!

We will now be teaching French in EYFS and KS1 from September 2020.

We will be using the Little Languages scheme of work for EYFS and KS1 and we will continue to use La Jolie Ronde for KS2.
