Pudsey Bear came to visit us in school for a special Collective Worship. During the day we learnt all about the work of Children In Need and the people it helps. We have raised over £100 for the charity.
At Stanley St Peters Church of England Primary School, the Year 6 children, were given the options to choose a charity to raise funds for Christmas. The children after much deliberation decided to select St Catherine's Food Bank (Wakefield). The children wrote a letter to the head teacher outlining the target of raising 500 items! The children then held an assembly to ask the rest of the school to help them reach the target of 500. Last Friday the children soon realised they had smashed their target. The entire school had supported this idea and the children collected 751 items in total. The school are exceptionally proud of the children and they have demonstrated the true festive spirit.
Levi's Star as established in 2008. The charity is in memory of Levi Ringer who attended St Peter's School. He lost his life to a brain tumour at the age of six. The Charity supports children with brain tumours and their families throughout Yorkshire.
Recently Mrs Ringer along with our school council held a competition to design improvements to our quad where we have a blossom tree in memory of Levi. The winner's father also made a beautiful plaque in his memory which has been laid at the base of the tree.
